Disclosure is the open and clear communication from influencers to their audience about any commercial relationship with a brand such as being paid, receiving free products, or participating in a sponsorship. It’s a transparency tool that tells followers, “This is a promotional post.”

Where is it used?

Disclosure must be included on all platforms where sponsored content is posted, including:

  • Instagram

  • Facebook

  • TikTok

  • YouTube

  • Blogs and articles

  • X (formerly Twitter)

  • Twitch

  • Instagram Live or any live streaming platform

Essentially, any platform used for influencer-brand collaborations requires proper disclosure.

When to use it?

Disclosure is required whenever a commercial relationship exists, such as:

  • Paid sponsorships

  • Free products or services (gifting)

  • Affiliate links with commission

  • Brand ambassadorships

  • Sponsored mentions or campaigns
